If you like to spend a time in a mystical place you will like this park: The Parque Nacional de Sete Cidades.

The National Park of Seven Cities at northern of Piauí and Northeastern of Brazil is situated between Parnaiba at the coast and the capital Teresina in the centre of the state Piauí (two to three hours by car). The region is an impressive collection of natural monuments, made of outcrops of Late Devonian rocks. This rock outcrops are assembled together into seven groups – the seven cities.
The "Seven Cities of Rock": each one possessing a peculiar set of geological monuments as
"The Rock of the Turtle",
"The Head of the Emperor",
"The Kiss"
nd the famous "Map of Brazil" - formation that remembers the Brazilian map.
The formation is carved by wind and pluvial water in sandstones. The researcher Ludwig Schwennhagen, an Austrian historian, described it as an ancient Phoenician city built some 3,000 years ago and Erich von Däniken, a Swiss journalist, is sure that it was a place of visits of extraterrestrial civilizations – ETs - in the past. There are some paintings on the rock outcrops, covered by a siliceous patina, iron-oxide inscriptions. The age of these inscriptions is under dispute. Some researchers point out an age of 6,000 years. The inscriptions are interpreted as to figure out hunting procedures and religious themes.

The local fauna and flora is a mix of “cerrado” and “caatinga”.This is two ecosystems. The park shelters rich flora and fauna of both ecosystems. The fauna seems to be richer than the
typical “cerrado” with spots of open fields and forests. There you can observe animals like: veado-mateiro (Mazama americana), a kind of deer of the latifoliate forest, the tatu, tamanduá, onça (phanter) and the iguana (Iguana iguana), also an Amazonian species, and the mocó (Kerodon rupestris), a rodent typical from the caatinga, (source : JORGE DELLA FAVERA).

So some researchers believe that in the region there where the first humans settling down, because of the religious symbols existing, others believe that they had been creatures of the lost continent of the Atlántida, the writer Erik Von Däniken believe that ETs had been there – and you? The National Park of the Seven Cities is a place where you could create your own "history" of the beginning of brazil...
